The famous Cuban troubadour Pablo Milanés premiered his new song titled “Waiting for the Miracle” on his YouTube channel on December 31, a reflection on life and the pandemic that has led to the death of millions of people in the world.

“I have made what I know, a song, and I have wanted to bring it closer to religiosity, because everyone, in the desire to save themselves, in the fear that exists around what is happening, of the tragedy that the planet is experiencing …he prays rather than thinks,” said the troubadour and explained that he wanted to do this song “as if it were a mass announced by a priest.”

“I wanted to make this song as if it were a prayer in the manner of the Catholic Lord’s Prayer, as if it were a mass announced by the Pope, by a priest, by a babalawo, by any guide of any religion,” added the troubadour.

The song was recorded between Havana and Madrid and its premiere was accompanied by pianist Miguel Núñez and cellist Caridad R. Varona. The arrangements were created by Milanés himself and Miguel Núñez.

“I believe that the miracle can be translated in different ways and the miracle, in this case, is translated into the way that people, countries, and rulers can work to make everything work better, that healthcare works better, that science works better, all of this can result in a miracle for humanity,” Milanés added.

The Cuban musician, one of the founders of the Nueva Trova Movement, has been creating several musical projects during the pandemic that he has published on his social networks. He has also recorded with different musicians and given several concerts in Spain.

Winner of two Grammys, and a Grammy for Musical Excellence, the 77-year-old musician will open the year with his new Days of Light tour, a staging with an intimate format, according to the Spanish press.

The tour, which includes concerts in different Spanish cities, is part of a more ambitious project with record recordings and other artistic proposals.

Pablo Milanés, with more than 40 solo albums and a leading career throughout the world, is one of the most internationally recognized Cuban musicians and his songs have been performed by artists from a large number of countries.

Creator of anthological songs from the Cuban repertoire such as Yolanda and the Brief space in which you are not, Milanés has also ventured into various genres and received several tributes during his career.

One of them was the album Querido Pablo, in which a group of Ibero-American musicians recorded those troubadour songs that have accompanied the lives of thousands of Cubans over the years.
