The office of United Nations High Commissioner for the Human rights will operate again in Venezuela, two months after his expulsion for expressing concern about the arrest of an activist and expert on military issues.
President Nicolas Maduro made the announcement in the company of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (CPI), Karim Khanwho is investigating Venezuela for possible crimes against humanity and also opened a delegation from his office in Caracas.

“I have received the proposal to invite again the opening of the office of the high commissioner for human rights of the HIM, Volker Turk, to be in our country, in Venezuela. “I agree,” said the president at an event at Miraflores Presidential Palace. “Let’s overcome the differences, the conflict we had,” she added.
Khan, with an agenda in Venezuela since Monday, was “very grateful” to Maduro.
“I am very grateful that you have expressed your commitment at my request to allow the office of the High Commissioner of the HIM return to Venezuela and give it effect as soon as possible,” he said, according to the official translation.
“I think it is something very positive and it is something that must be congratulated, something that should be underlined in its importance,” he said.

It is still unclear when the high commissioner’s delegation, expelled on February 15 after expressing “deep concern” over the detention of Rocío San Miguela lawyer specialized in military issues, accused of terrorism for her alleged links to a plan to assassinate Maduro.
