This bet backfired for Laura Wontorra. The presenter didn’t think it was possible for Steffen Henssler to score a landslide victory – and now he has to pay.
A lost bet against TV chef Steffen Henssler has hairy consequences for presenter Laura Wontorra: she publicly becomes a mustache wearer. The strange bet occurred at the start of the new season of “Grill den Henssler”, in which Henssler cooks and Wontorra moderates.
The kitchen Zampano announced right at the beginning of the episode broadcast on Sunday evening that he would beat his competition that evening by a whopping ten points. “Excuse me?” Wontorra asked in surprise – and countered. “Then I would immediately enter into a bet with you.”
We then discussed the stakes for a while. Henssler first presented and announced: “If I lose, I’ll only have a mustache for the rest of the season!” Wontorra seemed irritated and asked for time to think about it.
“I got myself into something”
The first offer came later: Wontorra suggested that she could host the show with a stuck-on or painted “Schnorres”. However, that was far too little for Henssler. “If you lose, you have to host the next show completely with a mustache,” he demanded. After initial hesitation, the moderator intervened.
It happened as it had to happen: Henssler triumphed in the cooking competition with 105 to 83 points. “Dear mustache wearers out there, send me your inspirations,” Wontorra asked. On Instagram, the presenter took the betting debts with humor. She commented on a posting by the Vox editorial team entitled “We’re looking forward to next week”, on which Laura Wontorra was seen with a moustache, with the words: “I got myself into something” and put a laughing emoji behind it .
