New Delhi: Matt Henry has confirmed his place in New Zealand‘s T20 World Cup squad by pipping Ben Sears for the final seam bowling position. Henry joins a formidable pace attack that includes Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Lockie Ferguson. The team will be without the services of Adam Milne, who is recovering from ankle surgery, and injured Kyle Jamieson is also not in the squad. Kane Williamson will lead the Black Caps in their quest to win the T20 World Cup title for the fourth time.
New Zealand have reached the semi-finals in the last three tournaments and reached the final in 2021. Coach Gary Stead expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adapt to the diverse conditions expected on West Indies grounds. The Blackcaps posted a video, in which two children named Matilda and Angus are seen announcing the Kiwis’ squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
He announced the team in a very interesting manner. Earlier, the children, wives and girlfriends of New Zealand cricketers had announced the team for the ODI World Cup in a unique way. Regarding this, Coach Stead said- Matt has worked exceptionally hard on his skills in all phases of the T20 game, to come back into consideration for selection. Rachin has won every post over the last 12 months and it was exciting to see him carry on the same pace in the T20 format against Australia in the summer.

There is a wealth of experience in the team, with Boult appearing in his fifth World Cup, Southee in his seventh and Williamson in his sixth. Thirteen of the 15 players have recently played in the Caribbean during the team’s last tour of the West Indies in 2022.
