Tanisha Mukherjee, daughter of famous actress Tanuja and younger sister of Kajol, also chose acting as a career like the rest of the family members, but she did not get as much success as others. Tanisha, who debuted in the year 2003 with the film ‘Shssh’, appeared on screen only in a few selected films. These days Tanisha is in the news for the film ‘Love You Shankar’. In this connection, we had a special conversation with him on his film journey:

You have been in Bollywood for almost twenty years, but you have appeared in very few films. You suddenly appear in a movie or show, then go away from the screen. Why so? And how do you see your own film journey?

My film journey is still going on. It’s not over yet. Yes, I have worked less. I keep doing little work but I am enjoying doing such work. I guess if you do everything now, what do you do next? I haven’t done much yet, so I have a chance to do a lot. Otherwise, there is no reason to work less. When I get good work, I will do it. I want to do different characters, work with good people. Well, I was always active, now if the picture is not releasing or running then it is not in my hands. People only see what comes out but I was never inactive. I have an NGO. I do other things too. I have one life. I love acting but it is just a part of my life.

Tanisha Mukherjee was brain damaged after falling from a mountain, the actress narrated the scary story of the shoot of her debut film.

In your family, mother Tanuja, sister Kajol, brother-in-law Ajay Devgan have all been big stars. In such a situation, it is natural for you to be compared to them. How do you take it?

There is no such comparison in our family. It happens outside but we never realize it, because we do not listen to people outside. I believe that if even one person in the family is successful then the entire family is successful, because the success of one person is the success of everyone. The growth of one means the growth of all. It is a big thing for me that so many people in my family are successful. My perspective is different. Krishna has said that this entire life is an illusion, so it all depends on how you look at something. If I look at my life in a negative light then I will see everything wrong but mine is the life of a queen. I am very lucky to be born in such a family. My relatives are like this. I am very lucky. There is no shortage anywhere. If people say there is a shortage then they are thinking negatively.

Today you have matured that career ups and downs are a part of life, but when you started and your films did not do well, how disappointing was that period? How did you deal with that?

Of course, I felt very bad then. It was heartbreaking because I was so young. Then it seems that this is everything. At that time we did not realize that success or failure does not define you. At that time, no films were being released so I felt as if my entire life had come to a halt due to this failure. My whole life became a flop due to one flop. Perhaps this is why my career did not progress. We gradually learned that one failure doesn’t do anything, even one success doesn’t do anything. Just keep working. So, I wish I had listened to my father who used to say just work, but then we used to think that one flop means stop working. When my first film didn’t work, I thought, hey, now I can’t do anything because my first film didn’t work, but then I got ‘Tango Charlie’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Neil and Nikki’, then I came to know that you Just keep doing your work. The more work you do, the more experience you will get and that is most important.

Actress Tanuja discharged from hospital, Kajol’s mother was admitted in ICU due to age related problems.

How big a support system did your mother and sister become during this frustrating period? Have you taught mother any lessons?

There was a very big support system. For me my family is everything. My mother taught me a lot – listen to everyone, but follow your heart. This is my mother’s teaching.

You are playing the role of a mother in the film ‘Love You Shankar’. Was there any hesitation in your mind regarding this role?

For the first time in the film, I am playing the role of a mother. I have not played this character in real life yet, so I am fulfilling that wish on screen. The mother-son relationship shown in the film is full of friendship. I have a similar relationship with my mother, so I liked all this very much. I had no hesitation about doing it. Whatever role I have played, I have always played it by immersing myself in the character. I don’t think what the world will say. If I had thought this, I would not have done a film like Neil & Nikki. I liked Nikki’s character so I completely became Nikki Bakshi. Similarly, I played the role of a mother with all my heart.

Tanisha Mukherjee dismissed rumors of secret marriage, said- the whole world knows that I am single

Your brother-in-law Ajay Devgan is a big producer himself, but you were not seen in any of his banner films. Why so? Whereas, questions are often raised regarding nepotism in the industry!

We are an example that there is no nepotism in the industry. If Ajay gets such a character where he feels that I can play that role well, then he will approach me. Not because we think like that. They cast according to the character, not according to the people and that is how casting should be done. Ajay is an amazing director. His understanding of cinema is amazing and he runs his production house in the same way. He casts according to his character. If they feel that this actor will fit into the character, then they will take it.
