(ANSA) – PARIS, APRIL 30 – At least 500 people including students, former students and teachers of Sciences Po–Paris are launching a heartfelt appeal against the occupations and pro-Gaza blockades that have marked the academic life of the Parisian university in recent days . In a petition, cited by the website of the weekly L’Express, the five hundred signatories of the petition entitled ‘Agir pour Sciences Po’ (‘Act for Sciences Po’) call for a ”strike” against the ”radical minority” which has staged the protests of recent days with the declared support of Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s La France Insoumise party (LFI), they say, and appeal to the university’s management to guarantee “academic security and integrity”. ‘The recent demonstrations of force by a radical minority on our Paris campus, with the promotion of anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist ideas and the cynical exploitation of the context of war between Israel and Hamas, due to the October 7 massacres, are totally unacceptable’ ‘, underline the signatories, adding that ”this violence and this polarization go totally against the spirit of openness and dialogue” of Sciences Po.
