Al Haouz earthquake: health situation “under control” in disaster areas (WHO)
Rabat – The health situation in areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake is “under control”, said Richard Brennan, director of the Emergencies Program at the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO ).
In a statement to the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, broadcast during the Friday afternoon news, Mr. Brennan affirmed that the health situation in Morocco is “under control”.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, indicated last Tuesday that the health sector was able to mobilize, thanks to the High Directions of HM King Mohammed VI, the entire logistical and human arsenal to provide for the needs of populations affected by the earthquake that struck Al Haouz and several other provinces of Morocco.
“We were able to control the situation without having to mobilize human resources from other regions,” added the minister, stressing that all those involved in the management of this disaster are deploying at full capacity to come to the aid of the victims. Mr. Ait Taleb, in this context, reassured about the availability of the necessary resources and health equipment.
