2 years is the age at which parents in Tarnovo send their children to a nursery school, and for the region there are 175 free places, according to NSI data.
By the end of 2023, 21 independent nurseries and nursery groups in kindergartens with a total of 1071 places will be operating in the Veliko Tarnovo region. All of them are located in the cities of the district.
Compared to the previous year, the number of places in them does not change. There are 838 places in independent nurseries, and 233 in kindergartens, according to the statistics of the Territorial Bureau North.
In 2023, 896 children enrolled in independent nurseries and nursery groups in kindergartens in the district, or 23 children less than in 2022.
At the end of the year, 827 children remain to be raised and educated in nurseries. Of these, 439 are boys and 388 are girls. Compared to the previous year, the number of children in daycare centers as of December 31, 2023 increased by 2.
In the distribution of children raised in nurseries by age in 2023, the largest relative share of children aged 2 is 82.3%, followed by the share of children aged 1 – 17.1%, according to statistics.
In order to ensure conditions for normal physical and mental development and upbringing of children, 310 staff members work in the nurseries in the district on a basic employment basis. There are 133 medical health care professionals, 131 of whom are nurses and 2 midwives. There are 177 non-medical staff who care for the children in the nurseries.
