Romy-Awards will again take place in the Hofburg

by time news

The film and television award “Romy” returns to the Vienna Hofburg for its 33rd edition. Another gala is planned for April 23 (from 9.10 p.m. live on ORF 2), which was not possible in the two previous years due to the corona. As of today, the public is invited to vote for their favorites at www.kurier.at/romy. There are a total of 45 nominees to choose from in nine categories, as the “Kurier”, which awards the prizes in cooperation with the ORF, announced on Monday.

In the past two years, the awards have often been presented in surprising ways. That was well received by the audience and also meant less effort, said “Kurier” managing director Thomas Kralinger at a press conference. One even asked oneself whether one should continue it in this form. “In the end, however, we clearly decided on a gala. After the challenges of the last few years, the industry has earned this stage,” says Kralinger. The ORF 2 channel manager Alexander Hofer, who emphasized that he had weighed various options, saw it similarly. “Ultimately, however, it’s the right decision to let people come together again. That’s what the industry thrives on.”

Five people are nominated per category. You can vote for them until March 20 either online or by voting card distributed as an enclosure. In the cinema/TV film category, Maria Hofstätter and Birgit Minichmayr were nominated as the most popular actresses, while Georg Friedrich and Murathan Muslu were among the most popular actors. There are also prizes again for the most popular actress and the most popular actor in a series. You can choose from audience favorites such as Hilde Dalik, Margarethe Tiesel, Nicholas Ofczarek and Moritz Bleibtreu.

In the information category, there are ORF III editor-in-chief Lou Lorenz-Dittlbacher, Puls 4 chief reporter Manuela Raidl and the “ATV Aktuell – die Woche” trio around news anchor Meinrad Knapp, political advisor Thomas Hofer and pollster Peter Hajek. The prize in the show/entertainment category could go to Hans Knauss (“Austria at its finest”), comedian Michael Bully Herbig or the “Ninja Warrior Austria” moderation trio Mario Hochgerner, Dori Bauer and Florian Knöchl.

The category “Best Lockdown Format” is no longer included. The “Sport” category has been reactivated for this purpose. The teams Michael Eschlböck/Walter Reiterer and Andrea Schlager/Andreas Gröbl have chances, but so can Ernst Hausleitner, Anna Lallitsch and Alina Zellhofer.

The two junior categories have been renamed. From now on they will be known as “Discovery” in order to decouple them from old age. Record holder Tobias Moretti is of course out of the question with his nine Romys he got – his daughter very much. Antonia Moretti, who stood in front of the camera with her father in the two-part film “Im Netz der Camorra”, is one of the nominees for the first time. She faces competition from Dominique Devenport, Selina Graf, Valerie Stoll and Annika Wonner. Among the male discoveries, Bruno Alexander, Damian Hardung, Julian Looman, Emilio Sakraya and Julian Waldner vie for the attention of the audience.
