Drinking water: ONEE CEO meets with Finnish Ambassador to Morocco on cooperation opportunities
Casablanca – The Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), Abderrahim El Hafidi, met on Tuesday in Rabat with the Finnish Ambassador to Morocco, Marjaana Sall, about prospects for cooperation in the areas of drinking water and liquid sanitation.
This meeting is part of the working visit to Morocco of a high-level delegation from the Finnish Water Forum (FWF), for the launch of joint cooperation projects between the two countries, indicates ONEE in a press release. .
On this occasion, Mr. El Hafidi presented ONEE’s projects in the sectors of drinking water and liquid sanitation, notes the same source, indicating that the discussion focused on the development opportunities of the cooperation between ONEE and FWF, particularly in the areas of digitalization of processes, reuse of treated wastewater and capacity building, for better use of water resources.
And to continue that the two parties agreed to explore opportunities for sharing Finnish expertise in the field of innovative technologies and research and development to support the realization of major projects of the Office within the framework of the program of ONEE’s ambitious investment in the drinking water sector.
During this meeting, Ms. Sall was accompanied by the Ambassador for Developing Markets at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eija Rotinen, as well as a delegation from the FWF.
The Finnish delegation paid a visit to the International Institute of Water and Sanitation (IEA), ONEE’s center of excellence for capacity building and research activities, as well as a visit to the Ain Aouda wastewater treatment plant (Skhirate-Témara Prefecture), an important component of the system for watering green spaces in the city of Rabat from the reuse of purified wastewater.
