France rescued 66 irregular migrants, including women and children, as they attempted to cross the Channel to reach Britain, as French authorities announced.

The French Maritime Directorate said that on Thursday morning, “emergency services were informed by the Dieppe signal that a migrant boat was located off the coast of Dieppe.”
She added, “On Wednesday afternoon, a coastal motorboat belonging to the Marine Gendarmerie provided assistance to the boat.”
The statement explained that the crew recovered “66 people, including women and children.”
The British government announced the possibility of deporting a specific group of asylum seekers to Rwanda, including 5,700 people, “by the end of the year,” after passing a controversial law aimed at preventing irregular crossings of the Channel.
