The energy holiday comes in the midst of the most serious crisis facing that sector in Ecuador. President Daniel Noboa, through Decree 226, of this Wednesday, April 17, 2024, suspended the working day of the public and private sectors for the next two days.

New day of blackouts, up to eight hours.

In the midst of a new day of blackouts, lasting up to eight hours, the President made the decision to pay 50% of households’ electricity bills for the month of April.

During this period, maintenance will be carried out on the power plants. Therefore, energy rationing will remain at certain, immovable schedules.

In Guayaquil the power outages will be nine hours divided into two days. These include suspension from 00:00 to 04:00; from 00:00 to 05:00; 04:00 to 08:00; from 06:00 to 12:00; from 08:00 to 13:00; from 10:00 to 14:00; from 10:00 to 15:00; from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; from 21:00 to 00:00.

Eight-hour power cuts will be applied in the province of Cotopaxi. There are three times when the energy service will be suspended: from 00:00 to 08:00; from 08:00 to 16:00 and from 16:00 to 24:00 hours.

The EmelNorte company disseminated the schedule of electricity service outages in Carchi, Sucumbíos, Esmeraldas, Imbabura and the north of Pichincha. In that area the blackouts will last between 9 and 13 hours in periods from 00:00 to 13:00; 12:00 to 22:00; 00:00 to 13:00; 04:00 to 15:00 and 13:00 to 24:00.

In the province of Bolívar the blackouts will be repeated at different times. There are scheduled outages between 00:00 to 06:00; from 06:00 to 08:00; from 08:00 to 17:00; from 17:00 to 21:00 and from 21:00 to 24:00./El Expreso.
