Sales of electrified vehicles (electric and plug-in hybrids, including passenger cars, quadricycles, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) regain the positive pace of sales, with an increase of 14.5% in April and 9,743 units.
Although it is a positive fact, in the total market its representation stands at 8.75% share, a figure even lower than that of the same month of 2023. In the total for the year, sales of electrified vehicles reduce their share market share at 9.66%, with 38,994 units registered.
The leadership among 100% electric cars remains in the hands of Tesla, which with the Model 3 has been the best-selling battery electric model in April in the Spanish market, with 599 units registered, multiplying its sales by more than eleven times ( +1,074.5%) compared to what it registered a year ago, and with a market share of 15.59%, as reflected in the data prepared by Ideauto for the Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (Anfac).
The Model 3 maintains for another month the first position that the Model Y had occupied two months ago, which in April occupied second place by registering 284 registered units, with a market share of 7.39% and an increase in year-on-year sales of 14.98%.
The ‘top 5’ of 100% electric vehicles registered in April are completed by the Volvo EX30, with 249 units registered, the MG MG4 (226 units, -39.25%) and the Mercedes EQA Class (125; +212.5% ).

In the cumulative figure for the year until April, the Tesla Model 3 also leads the way, with 2,636 units registered in these four months, a 17.32% market share and a more than six-fold increase in sales (+536 .7%) compared to what was recorded in the same period of the previous year.
Following in the year’s total is the other model of the American brand, the Model Y (1,795 units, -3.75%), the MG MG4 (900 units, -6.15%), the Volvo EX30 (406 units) and the BMW ix1 (527 units, +279.14%).
Mercedes-Benz wins in plug-in hybrids
In the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) segment, in April, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Class takes first position, with 486 units registered, with a market share of 9.6% and a growth in sales of more than almost five times (+390%).
Next on the list of the first five places is the Ford Kuga, which registered 367 units last month, 17.63% more than in the same month of the previous year; the Peugeot 3008 (263 units, +97.74%), the Mercedes A Class (214 units, +79.83%) and the Mercedes GLA Class (184 units, +54.62%).

In the accumulated until April, the Mercedes GLC Class is also in the lead, with 1,713 units registered, 270.78% more than what it registered in the same period of the previous year. Behind them are the one that topped the list last month, the Cupra Formentor, with 1,436 units, +246.86% year-on-year, the Ford Kuga (1,194 units, -27.06%), the Mercedes GLA Class (992 units, +91 .51%) and the Mercedes A-Class (813 units, +31.98%).
Self-rechargeable hybrids, Toyota’s terrain
Finally, regarding non-plug-in hybrids (HEV), the Toyota Corolla occupies first position on the list of best sellers in April by registering 2,011 units, with a market share of 6.61% and year-on-year growth in sales of 49.85%.

Behind this model are three others from the Japanese brand, the Yaris, with 1,761 units registered in April, 119.58% more than the same month last year; the Yaris Cross (1,580 units, +21.73%), and the Rav 4 (1,390 units, +272.65%). The fifth position is held by the one that occupied the first place until last month, the Nissan Qashqai (1,169 units, +19.65%).
In the accumulated of the first four months of the year, the Toyota Corolla also heads the list of HEVs, with 8,252 units registered, 41.01% more compared to the same period of the previous year. It is followed by the Nissan Qashqai (7,343 units, +43.53%), the Toyota Yaris Cross (5,886 units, +22.45%), the Toyota C-HR (4,497 units, -40.63%) and the Toyota Yaris (4,489 units, +50.28%).
