(24News) On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have said that free press is indispensable for highlighting issues of global importance, the role of media in awareness of climate change and green technologies is important.
In his statement, President Asif Zardari said that journalists around the world are facing challenges in doing their work, measures should be taken for the security of journalists so that they can report without fear. By reporting honestly and accurately, the media should play a role in countering fake news and promoting ethical values.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the defenders of Hurriyat while greeting journalists and media workers. This is the message of World Press Freedom Day.
Shahbaz Sharif said that freedom of expression is the foundation of democracy and the call for truth in the society. The global index improved by 7 points, during the 16-month government, legislation was passed to protect the media.
