Senior Communist Party of India CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan has died after a long illness. After the death of Atul Anjan, there is a wave of mourning in the political circles. Let us tell you, 70 year old CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan was suffering from cancer for a long time. He breathed his last at 3:45 am on Friday. He was admitted to Mayo Hospital in Gomtinagar, Lucknow.
Anjan was a big face of leftist politics
Atul Kumar Anjan was a senior CPI leader and National Secretary of the Communist Party of India. He was also the General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha. Atul Anjan, who started his political journey from student politics, was considered a big face in leftist politics.
On behalf of CPI, it was told that Comrade Atul Kumar Anjan has played an outstanding role in the student movement, farmers’ movement and building the party across the country. He was a steadfast warrior against right-wing-fascist forces. His demise is a big loss for the Communist Party of India and the farmers’ movement in the current situation of the country.
Schooling took place in Lucknow
Senior CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan did his schooling from Lucknow. He did his schooling from State Board School, Lucknow. After this, Atul Anjan studied graduation in 1967, post graduation in 72 and LLB in 1983 from Lucknow University. Anjaan was the Uttar Pradesh state president of All India Students Federation.

Singh was a senior freedom fighter who participated in HSRA (Hindustan Socialist Republican Association) actions, for which he served a long sentence in a British prison. Atul Kumar has contested elections from Anjan Ghoshi Lok Sabha seat several times. But he had to face defeat in every election. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Anjaan got only around 18 thousand votes from Goshi seat.
Elected President of Lucknow University 4 times
In his early 20s, Atul Kumar Anjan was elected president of the National College Students Union. To voice the concerns of the students, CPI leader Atul Kumar had won the election for the post of Student Union President of Lucknow University for four consecutive times. Anjaan, a proficient speaker in about half a dozen languages, had joined the Communist Party of India during his university days.
Anjaan was one of the key leaders of the famous police-PAC rebellion in Uttar Pradesh. Anjaan spent four years and nine months in jail during his political journey. Due to his political and ideological tenacity and ability to lead student movements, he became the President of AISF at the Ludhiana conference in 1979 and remained in this position till 1985.

Anjan joined the Communist Party of India in the late sixties and remained in the party till his last breath. Atul Kumar was elected to the National Council of the party at the 14th Congress held in Kolkata in 1989.
After this, he was elected to the National Executive Committee in the 15th Congress held in Hyderabad in 1992 and was appointed a member of the National Secretariat in the 16th Congress held in Delhi in 1995. He remained on that post till his last breath. He became the General Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha at the Thrissur National Conference in 1997 and was elected to the same post in the years 2001, 2006, 2010 and 2016. He was committed to the interests of farmers. His contribution as the only farmer member of the Swaminathan Commission was notable, making several recommendations including MSP for farmers’ produce.
