Etipet will receive tomorrow in the capital Cairo a delegation of the radical Palestinian group “Hamas”, which has been at war with Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 7 last year, Reuters reported.

The agency first cited information from today’s close-to-the-state Egyptian television channel Al-Qahera News. A Hamas representative then confirmed to Reuters that a delegation of the movement was arriving in Cairo tomorrow. Options for a truce in the Gaza Strip will be discussed.

Earlier, Reuters reported that CIA Director William Burns had already arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to participate in meetings on the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

For this information, the agency refers to a source from the Egyptian security forces and three of its associates at Cairo airport, BTA reported.

The US, Egypt and Qatar are making efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and the release of Israeli hostages held by the Islamist movement, according to Reuters.

The agency said it had not received official confirmation of Burns’ arrival in Cairo, saying it was CIA policy not to release information about its director’s travels.

Last month, Egyptian officials tried to revive the truce talks, with Israel drawing up a new proposal, a response to which is being awaited from Hamas, Reuters recalls.
