The Second Criminal Chamber of the First Section of the Center of San Salvador issued this Friday a sentence of five years in prison for the former ex-deputy of Nuevas Ideas, Erick García, for the crime of ideological falsehood.

After hearing the ruling, García will be transferred to the La Occidental prison, in Santa Ana, where he has remained throughout the judicial process.

The former deputy was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) due to the falsification of a document that recorded a loan of $90,000 to his legal advisor, Luis Alonso Portillo Turcios, which was never made.

According to the Public Ministry, the document in question “suffered from falsehood, since it refers to events that did not happen, that is, there was no delivery of money and false information was incorporated into it,” according to the request for immunity presented by the prosecutor. General, Rodolfo Delgado, to the Legislative Assembly.

The five-year prison sentence represents a blow for former representative García, who will now face the legal consequences of his actions. This case highlights the importance of integrity in the exercise of public functions and the imperative of transparency in the actions of public servants.
