In the pre-preparatory foreign ministerial meeting of the 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or OIC held in Banjul, Gambia on May 2-3, Foreign Minister Dr. The Bangladesh delegation is participating under the leadership of Hasan Mahmud. On the sidelines of the meeting, Gambia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General Dauda Zawla paid a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister on May 3.

Gambia’s foreign minister praised Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for showing solidarity with the Muslim Ummah by providing shelter to the Rohingya displaced from Myanmar in Bangladesh. At the same time, he thanked the Bangladesh government for providing financial support in the Rohingya genocide case.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gambia, Dr. Hasan Mahmoud congratulated and expressed his hope to work together to increase cooperation in various areas of the OIC during Gambia’s presidency of the OIC.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this information in a press release on Saturday (May 4) morning.

During the courtesy call, the foreign minister expressed satisfaction with the existing friendly relations between the two countries and discussed with the Gambian foreign minister about increasing bilateral cooperation in Bangladesh’s manpower export, trade and investment in the agricultural sector. Dr. Hasan Mahmood proposed the formation of a joint business task force consisting of top organizations of businessmen of the two countries to expand Bangladesh’s trade cooperation with Gambia. The Gambian Foreign Minister particularly appreciated Bangladesh’s incredible success in the agricultural sector and expressed the intention to expand trade cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting, the foreign ministers of both countries emphasized the strong role of the OIC in solving the Palestinian problem.

Note that the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hasan Mahmud is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the pre-preparatory Foreign Ministerial meeting of the 15th OIC Summit. Foreign Secretary (Senior Secretary) Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to OIC Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwari, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nigeria in charge of Gambia Masudur Rahman and Director General (International Organizations) Wahida Ahmed were present in the meeting.
