The inclusion of students with special needs is no longer just a question of equity but a priority that reflects the quality and integrity of our education system.”
According to data from the department, for the 2024/2025 school year, a significant increase in the presence of boys and girls protected by law 104/92 in Italian nursery schools is expected, with a percentage reaching 4.88%. On the contrary, in German-speaking nursery schools the percentage stands at 1.98%. The demand for integration collaborators shows a growing trend in the Italian language school system in general: compared to 9 pupils who will complete their studies in 2023/24, 97 girls and boys are expected to enter the system , in 2024/25.
Overall, the number of pupils requiring help increased from 461 in 2020/21 to an expected 541 for next year. Furthermore, the number of pupils protected by law 104/92 alone is expected to exceed 1,500 in 2024/25, up from 1,159 in 2023/24. The numbers of students protected by Law 170/2010 and the ministerial directive of 12/27/2012 have also shown growth in recent years, going from 1,394 in 2022/23 to 1,478 in 2023/24.
To deal with this situation, the school administration will rely on a pedagogical expert, Raffaele Ciambrone, who will be present on May 13th for a meeting with managers, the inclusion service of the three administrators and some school representatives. «With the increase in resources and the intensification of training efforts, we are committed to ensuring that every student is guaranteed full participation in the school curriculum» concluded the councilor.
