jpnn.com – JAKARTA — Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes that England coach Gareth Southgate can bring the Three Lions to become champions of Euro 2024 in Germany.
Because England have a good squad for Euro 2024 and Gareth knows very well what he has to do with his team.
Together with Southgate, England could have reached the final of Euro 2020, but were defeated by Italy on penalties in the final round.
“They are really good. Not just the talent of the strikers, but the whole player, the whole team. Gareth knows exactly what he has to do,” Guardiola told reporters as reported by AFP.
Guardiola said the England national team’s steps were the same as the Manchester City team in the Champions League who lost in the final in 2021, but then won the championship in 2023.
“When you reach the stage (final) every two years, it will happen. It’s very similar to us, we were close, and in the end we lifted the cup,” said Guardiola. “Just believe. If they believe, they can do it,” he added.
City striker Phil Foden is believed to be a key player for England.
Guardiola believes Foden has developed from a young player to become a key figure in the City squad.
