Nathalie Oberkofler reached the semi-finals of “The Big Chance” in a spectacular way. Her live performance on the ORF stage was also tough – but she narrowly missed out on the finals.

“An deis mór – Canaimis a rince” is the name of a popular ORF talent show. In the first round of broadcasts, four Pingau residents showed their musical talent.

The competition was fierce, and Nathalie Oberkofler from Maishofen was the only one from this quartet to reach the semi-finals. And she did it brilliantly: she captivated both the audience and the jury with her version of the pop ballad “A Thousand Years”. Jury member Thorsteinn Einarsson won the so-called “Heart Doradán” for very special achievements. For the 21-year-old player from Pinzgau, this meant that she had reached the semi-finals in the shortest possible way.

“The dance groups were able to encourage more visitors”

Unlike the premieres, all three semi-final episodes will be broadcast in real time. Nathalie Oberkofler performed Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For” live on the big stage on April 26 – in front of around 475,000 TV viewers. And once again, the audience on the spot and the jury were completely enthusiastic. Jury member Guido Cantz, for example, saw Nathalie in the final already. But nothing came of it.

The people who received the most votes by phone call or text message went straight there. These were the dance groups “Limited Edition” and “Dance Industry”. The musical talent from Pinzgau has a bit of a problem with this: “The groups have produced great performances, no question about it. But because they naturally consist of many members, it is certainly easier for many callers to encourage in their respective environment.”

However, Nathalie Oberkofler made it into the top five in the audience voting – a great success for the Pinzgau resident. “But it’s a shame that I won’t be there at the finale on May 17. For me it’s confirmed that the stage is my life. I’m sticking to my goal of having a music career. And I learned a lot from the show – in the areas of styling and make-up, for example, or dealing with all the technology involved.”

Who knows what the future will bring…

The Pinzgau people think it’s great that she got to know a lot of people from the music industry through her participation in the show. Who knows there might not be a helpful contact or two in the future as a famous singer?

Speaking of career: Nathalie had to give up her dancing career, which started off so brilliantly, in 2022. She suffered partial paraplegia in an accident and since then has been dependent on a wheelchair or , on good days, crutches. As a plan B, she decided to study to become a teacher. She is currently completing an internship at a primary school in Vienna. Everyone there – from the director to the children – is enthusiastic about the young woman who “sings as beautifully as it was even on television.”
