Mohammad Saeed Khokon, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-6 Constituency, has recommended stopping city toll collection in Dhaka city.

He made this recommendation at the second meeting of the Standing Committee on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Monday (May 6).

In the meeting, the former mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Mohammad Saeed Khokon presented the picture of extortion and harassment in the name of city toll in different areas of Dhaka city. He said that extortion is going on in Dhaka city in the name of city toll. Even the rickshaw pullers are not safe from the grip of these extortionists. Even when students are going to and from educational institutions with their school bags, rickshaws are stopped and collected. As a result, the development of the country is being questioned and public suffering is being created.

Earlier in the meeting, the minutes of the first meeting of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives were approved.
