The upcoming iPhone 17, which will be released in 2025, will have a scratch-resistant screen with anti-glare coating. As Day.Az reports, this was reported by the iXBT portal with reference to insider Instant Digital.
The new iPhone 17 glass screen will feature an ultra-durable anti-reflective coating that is significantly more scratch-resistant than current materials. According to the source, equipment for the production of the new coating has already been integrated into the supply chain in China, but it will not be used in the upcoming iPhone 16 series, which will be shown in the fall of 2024.
Ceramic Shield, developed by Corning in partnership with Apple and used in the company’s current smartphones, is a glass-ceramic material that Apple calls the toughest glass for smartphones.
In early 2024, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 Ultra flagship smartphone with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor with anti-reflective coating that reduces glare by 75% and has increased resistance to micro-scratches. Corning also claims that its panels are four times more scratch-resistant than competitors’ glass.
