“Ekskurzija” (“Excursion” in Bosnian) tells the story of Iman, a teenager in search of “validation” who invents a pregnancy, thereby plunging herself into a controversy that unfolds in an unpredictable manner. The film skillfully explores the social and emotional dynamics between individuals navigating the ambiguous space between adolescence and maturity.

On the occasion of the screening of her feature film, Ms. Gunjak expressed her honor to be part of the official competition of the Marrakech Festival. In a statement to MAP, she said she was “very honored” that her film was making its debut in the competition. “I look forward to seeing what the public thinks of our film and how it resonates here in Morocco,” she said.

Reflecting on the process of making the film, the Bosnian filmmaker noted that it was “long and laborious but also a happy adventure […] through which we created beautiful friendships”, further expressing the certainty that his film “will speak to many people because it lives with the audience and sparks conversations, which is something I always wanted to achieve”.

In a similar statement, actress Asja Zara Lagumdžija, who plays the role of Iman, said she was proud to be part of this competition.

“It’s my first time in the festival, and I’m already in love with every little detail about it,” added the young actress, expressing her joy at seeing this film screened in Marrakech. “It’s a story that deserves to be told,” she said.

“Excursion”, Gunjak’s first feature film, is a co-production of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, France, Norway and Qatar.

Thirteen other films in official competition will be screened during this 20th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival, promising a diverse cinematic experience for the public.
