Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, VTV1 rebroadcast the film Road to Dien Bien at 8am every day by director Bui Tuan Dung 10 years ago. The film has the participation of actors familiar to television audiences such as: Hoang Hai, Manh Truong, Manh Hung, Diem Huong, Huyen Trang….
Talking to VietNamNet, actor Manh Hung (role Hao) said he remembers the making process movie Road to Dien Bien strenuous “like being in a real army”. As for actress Huyen Trang – the female lead role, Ha shared many memories of the filmmaking process since 2014.

Huyen Trang shared with VietNamNet: “I’m very happy because every year I get to watch the movie Road to Dien Bien again, I feel as excited as the first time I saw it. When I see my role in the historical movie being re-aired on television , I’m really proud.
The road to Dien Bien was in the mountains and forests so it was extremely difficult. There are many memories, but what I remember most is that everyone had to sleep together, every 20 people sleeping in one stilt house. The weather in Sa Pa and Moc Chau at the time of filming was very cold, at night below 1 degree Celsius. Each person was given a blanket but it was not enough to keep them warm, everyone was shivering from the cold.”
During filming, both Huyen Trang and all the actors had to carry real guns, carry real rice or carry stones because director Bui Tuan Dung was very strict and did not allow fake items to be used. “I never worked hard in the city, so I just carried a gun to film, but at night I came back with bruises on my shoulders. My arms and legs were also bruised and scratched from carrying real rocks and rice,” she said.

In the film, Huyen Trang plays Battalion Commander Ha. The actress said: “The film has a dialogue segment that is 3 and a half pages long, all of which are very difficult to remember words and director Bui Tuan Dung is extremely strict in each line. At this time, I was new to the profession, so this is a huge challenge.
I had to stand facing the edge of the forest to study dialogue, the pressure and tension was so much that I broke out in a sweat while it was very cold outside. Back then, every time I saw the director, I was scared.”
Huyen Trang confided that when she first started her career, she encountered many challenging roles, so once she overcame them, future films were no longer too difficult for her. The actress also thanked the director because thanks to his meticulousness, the actors participating in the movie Road to Dien Bien were trained to overcome difficulties.
In Road to Dien Bien, Huyen Trang is paired with Manh Truong (the male lead role of Hung), a familiar face in many war films directed by Bui Tuan Dung as well as primetime television dramas.
Huyen Trang said this is the second film she has starred in with Manh Truong, but in both films, their characters did not have a complete ending. In Road to Dien Bien, Hung and Ha loved each other but eventually had to separate forever because Ha died on the battlefield.
Huyen Trang said that when acting with Manh Truong, she learned a lot from her senior. If there is any detail that Huyen Trang does not perform well, the actor born in 1985 will give her honest feedback. Whether on set or in real life, they both love each other.
