Leader Arsenal, racing for a first title since 2004, dominated Bournemouth 3-0 on Saturday in London.
The Gunners remain one point ahead of their runner-up Manchester City, who crushed Wolverhampton 5-1 a little later.
A penalty from Bukayo Saka (45th), a goal from Leandro Trossard (70th) and a final one from Declan Rice (97th) allowed Arsenal to pocket a fourteenth victory in sixteen league matches played in 2024 (compared to a defeat and a draw).
Before their last two matches of the season, Arsenal have 83 points, one more than Manchester City. The three-time defending champion, who will go to Tottenham on May 14 for a late match, did not have the slightest difficulty on Saturday to beat Wolverhampton with a quadruple from Erling Haaland (including two converted penalties).
The hopes of maintaining have also almost disappeared for Burnley and Zeki Amdouni, soundly beaten 4-1 by Newcastle. Penultimate with 24 points, Burnley seems destined for a return to the Championship, a year after leaving it. Amdouni came on in the 85th minute on Saturday, with the Clarets trailing 4-0.
