On a morning marked by misfortune, Miami-Dade County became the scene of a tragedy when a woman was run over and killed and the homicidal driver fled.
According to Detective Ángel Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Police Department, it was at approximately 5:25 in the morning when the agents discovered the lifeless victim.
The fatality took place in Golden Glades, and the details of the accident are currently being analyzed by authorities.
Among the witnesses is Abel Jayden, a 16-year-old boy who knew the victim. A moved Jayden shared that the woman was a street vendor whom he had last seen the day before.
“He said: ‘Oh! I am going tomorrow”the teenager recalled, dismayed.
The crime scene was cordoned off by the police, around Sixth Avenue, in both directions, at 149th Street.
“An unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on NE 6 Ave approaching NE 149 Street when an adult woman was attempting to cross from east to west and was struck.”Rodríguez explained.
The department’s traffic homicide unit is leading the investigation, with the firm goal of clarifying the facts and finding the whereabouts of the fugitive driver.

Among the indications, a burgundy Jeep Liberty was mentioned in police communications, although this information is still awaiting official confirmation.
Miami-Dade police officials urged the community to contact the Crime Stoppers line if they have any information that leads to the clarification of this case.
In this sense, it is expected that, in the next few hours, new details related to both the victim and the person who were driving will emerge.
