Israel Builds Quantum Computer | Israel Defense

by time news

The investment in the quantum computer will be routed to two parallel and complementary tracks: The Innovation Authority will focus on developing and building a quantum computing infrastructure for running calculations directly or through access to the cloud, mainly for optimization purposes or to improve various components in quantum computing.

The infrastructure will allow testing of existing algorithms, and will be available for research and development in all layers of hardware and software, but will not include manufacturing facilities (Fabless). At the beginning, it is possible to partially use the technology from abroad for the purpose of establishing and operating the infrastructure. Later, this infrastructure will incorporate processors and quantum technologies from Israeli development.

Mapat in the Ministry of Defense will establish a national quantum capabilities center that will center around an Israeli ecosystem for building blue-and-white capability. The center will cooperate with academia, industry and all TLM bodies , Algorithmics, interfaces and more. This is in order to develop a full quantum computer.

A quantum computer, unlike a classical computer, is based on an advanced information processing method, which is based on phenomena from quantum mechanics and enables the simultaneous processing of a huge number of situations. In quantum processing, the calculation times can be significantly shortened and therefore it is a real leap in the computational ability.

Innovation Authority CEO Dror Bin: “Quantum computing capability is a technology that Israeli industry cannot ignore. The industry must develop knowledge and access to the infrastructure in which it will be able to develop growth engines in the same activities in which it will be educated to lead. “

Mapat’s head of the Ministry of Defense, Dr. Danny Gould: “Quantum computing, at all levels, appears to be an important future component of state security and its technological superiority. Initiating the move within the national program is a significant step in establishing Israeli independence in this area.”

The investment in the quantum computer is in addition to investments of tens of millions of NIS made so far in technological development in companies and researchers and as part of the National Program for Quantum Science and Technologies, which was launched about two years ago with a budget of 1.25 billion NIS by members of the Telam Forum , WT, the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance.
