The Indian box office is currently going through its worst phase. The condition of cinema halls is bad. One after the other the films are becoming super flops. The situation is that films like ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ and ‘Maidan‘ released on the occasion of Eid have proved to be disasters. The biggest misfortune is that while on one hand no new big films are being released, on the other hand, despite flopping in theatres, weeks old films are running drag-and-drop. The pain of the film industry is that in the 128 days from January this year till now, 17 such films were released at the box office, which were expected to earn. But out of these, 9 films flopped, whereas except ‘Shaitan’, the remaining 7 films were somehow successful in earning profit by recovering the budget. If the budget of these 17 films is added, it was a total bet of Rs 1303 crore. The films which have disappointed the most in these 128 days are ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ and ‘Maidan’. This is because every time on the occasion of Eid there is a festive atmosphere in the theatres. Salman Khan has taken up this responsibility of celebration for the last 14 years. But this time his film was not released on Eid. In such a situation, there was too much expectation from ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ and ‘Maidaan’. Especially seeing the stardom of Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Ajay Devgan, it seemed that both these films would earn bumper money. But this did not happen.

This is the condition of ‘Maidan’ and BMCM in 27 days

According to the report of sacnilk, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ has collected only Rs 64.30 crore in the country in the last 27 days. Whereas ‘Maidan’ has earned Rs 49.40 crore. On Tuesday, while Akshay and Tiger’s film has made a business of only Rs 30 lakh, Ajay Devgan’s film has earned Rs 55 lakh. This earning of films is when there are no other big films in theaters at this time. Otherwise both these films would have disappeared from theaters long ago.

BMCM and ‘Maidan’ also found in worldwide collection

In terms of worldwide collection, the condition of both the films is bad. While ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ has made a gross collection of Rs 109.40 crore in 27 days, the worldwide earning of ‘Maidan’ is Rs 66.10 crore.

Makers have not been able to catch the pulse of the audience

The arguments like bad weather, busyness of IPL and Lok Sabha elections regarding the failure of films at the box office have their place, but one truth is that the way the audience’s taste regarding films has changed after the lockdown, the makers are unable to catch the pulse of that. Are proving unsuccessful. Then Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Fighter’ made a strong start, but the film, made with a budget of Rs 250 crores, ended up earning just Rs 212 crores.

Not only the makers, the audience is also guilty!

However, it is not all the fault of the makers only. There are some flaws in the audience also. On one hand, Bollywood is constantly accused of not having good stories and lack of good direction, on the other hand, films like ‘Merry Christmas’, ‘Lapata Ladies’, ‘Madgaon Express’ and ‘Maidan’ released this year have failed at the box office. Is longing for and is longing for. A similar situation happened with ’12th Fail’ last year also. The film could not earn bumper in theaters, but when it came on OTT, it was praised. Something similar is happening with ‘missing ladies’ these days.

17 films: cost Rs 1303 crore, earning Rs 886 crore

However, if we look at the mathematics of figures, a total of 17 such films have been released since January, which were either popular or big budget. The total budget of these films is Rs 1303 crore. Whereas it earned Rs 886 crore at the box office. That means the film industry has suffered a loss of Rs 417 crore in 128 days. The saddest thing is that this hope of huge earnings is going to last long, because earlier ‘Singham Again’ was to be released on 15th August, but now that too has been postponed.
