During the closing session, the President of the House of Advisors, Naama Mayara, indicated that in accordance with the High Directives contained in the Speech of HM King Mohammed VI at the opening of the legislative year, this session was marked by a clear social orientation, in the sense that the Sovereign has identified priority social projects.
He also expressed the pride of the House of Advisors with regard to the High Royal Guidelines calling, among others, to pay particular attention to the populations of the areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, as well as those setting the framework general revision of the Family Code.
The social question, he noted, is considered one of the pillars of the action of the Second Chamber of Parliament, he noted, noting that it is up to the parliamentary institution in general to demonstrate responsibility and vigilance in supporting the direct social assistance project, in line with the ambition to consolidate the foundations of the social state.
The closing of this session comes in the wake of the royal message addressed to participants in the Symposium commemorating the 60th anniversary of the constitution of the first elected Parliament in Morocco, held on January 17, 2024, indicated Mr. Mayara, noting that the royal message highlights before the main stages of the parliamentary experience of the Kingdom and the active contribution of the legislative institution to the process of reform and development since independence.
The House of Advisors was quick to interact with the High Royal Directions by ensuring in particular the development of a Code of Ethics for the legislative institution, he specified, adding that it is looking into the examination of the themes of this code, its benchmarks and the optimal approach to follow for its adoption in full consultation with the House of Representatives.
Mr. Mayara noted that the Kingdom continues to persevere on the path to realizing its ambitious development project, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, with a view in particular to consolidating the foundations of the social State, reinforce the resilience of the economy and strengthen the attractiveness of the Kingdom for foreign investments, particularly in the promising sectors of renewable energies, the green economy, new technologies and the pharmaceutical industry.
He also noted that during the session which is ending, diplomatic action continued the work of consecrating Morocco’s place as a reliable and credible political and economic partner, while reinforcing international support. to territorial integrity and the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom as the only basis for achieving a definitive and lasting solution to the artificial conflict around the Moroccan Sahara.
