The Asociation ‘Go for your rights‘ indicated that Minerva Mendoza -District Judge in Administrative Matters in the Mexico City– granted a provisional suspension to bullfighting in the country’s capital, but particularly in Plaza México.

‘Va Por Sus Derechos’ argued that bullfighting violates the environment, which the judge confirmed, since “the animals are being affected, which are a fundamental part of nature.”
“It does not generate a benefit of a social nature, such as a work of public infrastructure, or when it responds to a sustainable use scheme,” said Minerva Mendoza.

Mendoza will determine the next May 10 if it grants the definitive suspension to the measure to suspend bullfighting activities in Mexico City.
For now, Plaza México concluded its season of 2024, last March, so at the moment there are no scheduled activities.
Third suspension of bullfighting
It should be remembered that this is the third time that bullfights have been suspended, especially in the so-called Monumental Plaza México.
