The Director General of UNESCO condemns the murder of journalist Roberto Figueroa in Mexico

Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCOha convicted of the murder of journalist Roberto Carlos Figueroa Bustos in Huitzilac, State of MorelosMexico, on April 26, 2024.

“I condemn the murder of Roberto Figueroa. Local journalists play an essential role in informing the population and investigating irregularities. They must be protected from any type of aggression. “I urge the authorities to investigate this crime and bring the perpetrators to justice,” said Audrey Azoulay, Director General of the UNESCO.

Roberto Figueroa was kidnapped and subsequently, found dead in his vehicle. He was a local reporter and producer of Acá en el show, in which he frequently addressed topics such as corruption.
