The approved sample of the ballot for mail-in voters of the European Parliament (EP) election at the meeting of the National Election Commission (NVB) on May 9, 2024

After the NVB registered the lists running in the EP elections, and the related decisions became legally binding, the board’s next task was to approve the data content of the ballots. This so-called imprinting means that the NVB accepts the “image” of the ballot paper, whether the nominating organizations that put up the list and the first five candidates of the list, as well as the emblems that appear with the lists, are correctly included.

According to the legislation, the ballot paper for the EP election contains the names of the lists in the order drawn by the NVB: 1. Solution Movement, 2. LMP – Green Party of Hungary, 3. Democratic Coalition – Hungarian Socialist Party – Párbeszéd – GREENS, 4. Second Reform Kor Party, 5. People’s Party of Hungary for Everyone, 6. Momentum Movement, 7. Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Alliance – Christian Democratic People’s Party, 8. Jobbik – Conservatives, 9. Respect and Freedom Party, 10. Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Party, 11. Mi Házank Movement.

The long, 530×210 millimeter ballot paper accepted by the NVB has 11 lists in one line.

The NVB approved two separate ballots, one for voting in Hungary and one for foreign representation, on which there is a circle in the upper left corner for the stamp impression, which is stamped on the spot. On another ballot prepared for voting by mail, the words “ballot for voting by mail” are written instead of the seal.

The ballot is marked “ballot”, the name of the election (election of members of the European Parliament), and the day of the vote (i.e. June 9). It also states that you can only validly vote for one list. It was also indicated that you can vote validly with two intersecting lines written in pen in the circle above the name of the list. The ballot papers are framed by a blue band, except for the corners.

The ballot contains the serial number of the list (starting from one, with continuous numbering), below it the logo of the nominating organization (the logo of the nominating organizations must be displayed in an area 20 millimeters high and 40 millimeters wide), the circle for voting, below that the short name of the list, below that the full name of the nominating organization name and the names of the first five candidates on the list.
