Speaking at a meeting of the Infrastructure, Energy, Mines and Environment Committee at the House of Representatives, Mr. Baraka clarified that repairing damage caused to hydraulic infrastructure for a envelope of 469 million DH, including 117 million DH dedicated to the emergency program, will concern the repair of damage and the rehabilitation of roads leading to the dams and related administrative buildings (47 million DH), the repair of damage in 43 hydrological stations in Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Marrakech and Taroudant (5.15 million DH), said Mr. Baraka.

The interventions in this regard, he noted, aim to repair the damage suffered by the drinking water distribution networks in three centers (Tlat N’Yacoub, Moulay Ibrahim and Amezmiz) for 15 million DH, with the realization and the equipment of new boreholes and wells in all the affected provinces to supply drinking water (50 million DH).

The minister also reviewed various programs put in place by his department and relating to the development of the road circuit particularly following the Al Haouz earthquake, noting that the emergency program for aid to victims mobilized an estimated amount at 810 million DH.

This program mainly aims to upgrade the two sections linking Tahnaout to Taroudant of national road no. 7 for a budget of around 340 million DH, the acquisition of equipment (160 million DH), the elimination of rubble and ruins. public buildings and houses destroyed (300 million DH), the opening of blocked roads and the mobilization of logistical resources (10 million DH), specified Mr. Baraka.

In this regard, he affirmed that the ministry has implemented a road policy around three axes: road maintenance, preservation of the road circuit (more than 46,000 kilometers of paved roads), widening and modernization of the road network and its adaptation to traffic needs and climate change, in addition to the usual maintenance, citing the 2022 inspection campaign carried out by the National Center for Road Studies and Research, which revealed that 63.9% roads classified as paved are classified in good to average condition.

As part of the ministry’s road policy, Mr. Baraka reported the mobilization of 3 billion DH per year, representing 46% of the budget dedicated to roads, for the preservation, widening, strengthening and paving of closely of 2,000 kilometers of roads and the qualification of nearly 50 structures per year.

He also stressed that the adoption of a road policy must necessarily be based on the convergence of the different parties and on a national strategic vision and regional deployment in line with development programs, with the aim of achieving the objectives linked to improving economic attractiveness, attracting investments and capital, upgrading road axes, improving road safety indices and reducing territorial and social disparities.

Furthermore, the majority and opposition groups and the other parliamentary groups of the committee stressed the need to focus more on road maintenance programs, and their optimal implementation at the national, regional and provincial levels. , in addition to the distribution of road projects so as to guarantee the principles of equity and territorial justice.

This meeting, which takes place in application of the internal regulations of the House of Representatives, focused on the means allowing deputies to contribute to the improvement of legislative texts relating to the road network and the evaluation of public policies and the various government programs in this area.
