Bhagalpur: Sonam Kumari, a resident of Bakharpur in Bhagalpur district, has accused her husband of dowry harassment and attempts to kill her. In this matter, a complaint was also made to the Superintendent of Police of Bhagalpur on behalf of Sonam Kumari. He told that due to not getting dowry, Ranjeet has married another girl named Priyanka.
Demand for dowry after getting a home guard job
Sonam told the SP that Ranjit Kumar married Sonam Kumari on 11 May 2011. A few days after the marriage, a dispute started between the husband and wife regarding dowry. However, her father had given Rs 1.5 lakh cash and goods at the time of marriage itself. Even after this, on the demand of her husband and in-laws, Sonam repeatedly asked her father to give money to Ranjeet. But meanwhile, as soon as he got the job as a home guard, Ranjeet increased the dowry amount to Rs 5 lakh and tried to kill his wife. Somehow Sonam ran away and reached her maternal home. But meanwhile Ranjeet married another girl.
Within a few months of marriage, she left her husband’s house and went to her maternal home.
A complaint was lodged by the victim against her husband Ranjit in the local police station, but the police did not do anything after seeing the matter of the home guard van. Sonam told that she has left her husband’s house and is living in her maternal house after a few months of marriage. After marrying another girl named Priyanka on behalf of home guard jawan Ranjit, Priyanka is now continuously pleading for justice from the senior police officials. It has been told that the police will also send this case to the Home Defense Corps, because it is a case of a serving employee demanding dowry, murderously attacking his wife and marrying another while still having one wife.
