FC Bayern is still looking for a successor to Thomas Tuchel. Now the club is said to have decided on a new top favorite.

FC Bayern is apparently negotiating with Hansi Flick in search of a successor for outgoing coach Thomas Tuchel. This is reported by the TV channel Sky. Accordingly, a return of the Sextuple coach is a specific topic for the German record champions and initial discussions are said to have already taken place. Flick should fundamentally be open to returning.

As the broadcaster further reports, if Flick returns, ex-national player Miroslav Klose could become one of his assistant coaches. A return campaign for goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, who was fired under Julian Nagelsmann, should also be part of the plans. Those responsible at Bayern were also looking at other options in order to be prepared for Flick’s rejection.

The Munich team’s search for a coach is still not complete, as three top candidates, Xabi Alonso (Leverkusen), national coach Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick, rejected a move to Bayern.

Flick already worked as a coach for Bayern from November 2019 to June 2021 and won the sextuple of the championship, DFB Cup, Champions League, Supercup, European Supercup and Club World Cup in the 2019/20 season. However, due to a dispute with the then sports director Hasan Salihamidžić, Flick decided against staying in Munich despite his sporting success.

In August 2021, he took over the position of national coach from Jogi Löw instead, but was dismissed due to failure, including the preliminary round exit at the 2022 World Cup in September 2023. Since then, Flick has been without a job.
