NH Nonghyup Bank defeated Anseong City Hall 3-2 in the finals of the women’s general division of the 102nd Dong-A Ilbo National Soft Tennis Tournament held at the Mungyeong International Soft Tennis Center in Gyeongbuk on the 10th. With this, NH Nonghyup Bank succeeded in winning for the second consecutive year since last year and for the 40th time since its first win in 1959. There is no team that has won more games than NH Nonghyup Bank in the Dong-A Ilbo.

The soft tennis team event is played in the order of doubles, singles, doubles, singles, and doubles, and the team that wins three games first wins. On this day, NH Nonghyup Bank succeeded in taking the lead by winning the first doubles match between Hye-kyung Moon and Jin-ah Lim (22). However, the ‘singles queen’ Lee Min-seon (22) lost the second match and also gave up the third doubles, putting her on the verge of defeat. At that time, Donga Ilbo Hye-kyung Moon, who was playing her fourth singles match, her final personal match, balanced the game with a 4-0 victory. Then, Min-seon Lee won 4-1 in the final doubles match she played with Jeong-woon Lee (23), confirming NH Nonghyup Bank’s victory.
Moon Hye-kyung said, “I’m glad that I was able to do what I had to do as the eldest sister. There are four national team players on the team. “Before the game, I said, ‘We are playing in the name of NH Nonghyup Bank, but let’s not show ourselves losing in the name of the national team,’” he said. “I am happy that I was able to end my last Donga Ilbo match with a win.” Hye-kyung Moon was a first-year student at Mungyeong Seo Middle School. Starting with winning the girls’ middle school team event in 2010, she has lifted the Donga Ilbogi a total of 18 times in both individual and team competitions. In the history of Donga Ilbo, no player has won more championships than Hye-kyung Moon.
Lee Min-seon said, “I was especially sorry to my sister (Moon Hye-kyung) for not being able to catch the second fast. “During the final doubles, she played with all her teeth for her older sister,” she said, adding, “I will work harder to win the 41st championship next year without destroying the team’s achievements that my older sister has built.”
In the women’s general division singles final, foreign player Riko Hayashida (25, Japan) of Sunchang-gun Office defeated Su-jin Lee (23, Okcheon-gun Office) 4-0 and won three gold medals in the tournament, following the mixed doubles and women’s doubles. National team players ahead of the World Championships to be held in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do in September did not participate in the individual competition.
