I am confident that COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan, will be successful.
As Day.Az reported on Tuesday with reference to Trend, this was said by the UN Assistant Secretary General, Administrative Assistant and Director of the Bureau of Policy and Program Support of the UN Development Program Marcos Neto, speaking on May 7 at the opening of the 4th SDG dialogue on the topic “Consultations with stakeholders regarding the 4th Voluntary National Review of Azerbaijan and progress on the five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
“COP29 falls at a very important time period. I believe that this event will be held successfully. Among the Sustainable Development Goals there are also those that involve combating climate change,” he emphasized.
He mentioned that Azerbaijan has committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
“I am confident that Azerbaijan will achieve even greater success along this path. The UN will also share its experience in the field of climate change with Azerbaijan. The UN Development Program will provide support to Azerbaijan in this matter on the eve of COP29,” he added.
It should be noted that the 4th SDG Dialogue is being held in Baku on the topic “Consultations with stakeholders on the 4th Voluntary National Review of Azerbaijan and progress on the five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
