New Delhi : Britain’s National Security Advisor Tim Barrow arrived in India on Thursday on a two-day visit. During this he met with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval. The special thing is that during this meeting the focus of discussion was around technology and security initiatives. Both India and the UK want to increase cooperation in emerging and critical technologies in their mutual relations. During this, Ajit Doval expressed concern to his British counterpart about Sikh fundamentalism in Britain. The two National Security Advisors also discussed bilateral issues of mutual interest. Along with this, views were exchanged on regional and global matters.
Concern over Sikh fundamentalism
During the meeting, NSA Ajit Doval expressed concern over the growing Sikh fundamentalism in Britain. He told the British government the need to rein in Khalistani elements. The issue was raised in the wake of recent episodes of violent protests in London by Khalistan supporters. This also included a protest organized by Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) leader Avtar Singh Khanda in March 2023. Khanda later died in a UK hospital in June 2023. Barrow has reached India to participate in a high-level discussion led by the NSAs of both the countries. It aims to strengthen cooperation on various fronts including security, technology and regional affairs.
