Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mithaq Abdul Hussein, told the (INA): “Water scarcity and fluctuation in revenues have had a direct impact on fish farming in mud ponds,” pointing out that “a higher committee has been formed to develop a mechanism that will last for five years, aiming to shift towards Closed system breeding and assistance to fish breeders by granting soft, medium-term loans to establish these projects.”
He added, “It is not possible to continue raising fish using the old systems that consume water, which is now considered unsafe due to climate change,” indicating that “it is necessary to switch to alternative systems that help in optimal utilization of water through recycling.”
