According to a presentation presented on this occasion, the envelope of more than 1.26 billion dirhams allocated to the said convention aims to improve the distribution chains of agricultural products by modernizing the distribution and marketing circuits through development, equipment and upgrading infrastructure such as wholesale markets, slaughterhouses, weekly souks and livestock souks.
This partnership also aims to promote and market local products through the creation and equipment of new valorization units, the upgrading of existing units so that they are approved by the National Health Safety Office. food products (ONSSA), and the establishment of marketing platforms for local products.
In a statement to the press, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, indicated that this agreement tends to stimulate socio-economic development in the region by promoting job creation. , improving infrastructure, and increasing productivity in the agricultural sector.
“The convention highlights the commitment to the well-being of targeted categories and the promotion of inclusive growth,” he said.
He also focused on the water potential of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, and the efforts made by the department concerned to rationalize and valorize water, a crucial resource for food security.
For his part, the Wali of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, noted the importance of this convention in the context of the implementation of the regional development program in terms of agriculture.
He also discussed the challenges facing the agricultural sector, such as the impact of climate variability and the issue of water resources, calling for the coordination of the efforts of all stakeholders to immediately activate this convention.
For his part, the president of the Council of the region recalled that organic law No. 111-14 gave the regions a key role in economic and rural development, in particular through the promotion of regional wholesale markets, the valorization of social economy and regional products and the creation of agropoles.
He urged territorial stakeholders to adopt global visions to promote the development of the agricultural sector in accordance with national guidelines, government strategies and plans, and to make them a reality on the ground.
The said agreement is part of the Development Program for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region 2023-2027 and the implementation of the “Green Generation” Strategy and aims to boost key sectors of agriculture.
