Mumbai: In just four months of this year, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have withdrawn Rs 46,000 crore from financial stocks alone. Due to this, there is a lot of decline in the market. The effect of this is that last April there was a decrease in the inflow of equity mutual funds. About Rs 18,917.08 crore inflows came into equity mutual funds as investors reduced investments in large cap schemes. This is 16.42 percent less than March. This year, there was investment of Rs 22,633 crore in March and Rs 26,866 crore in February. Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI) gave this information in the data released on Thursday.
Investors returned to small cap
Smallcap funds managed to regain inflows after an outflow of Rs 94.17 crore last month. In the equity category, except ELSS and focused funds, all saw inflows in April. Inflows into large-cap funds declined sharply to Rs 357 crore. In March it was Rs 2,128 crore.
Attractiveness of debt schemes increased
Debt mutual funds which had seen an outflow of Rs 1.98 lakh in March, have managed to see an inflow of Rs 1.89 lakh in April. In the debt category, inflows were seen in all categories except credit risk and banking PSU funds. Sectoral and thematic funds also saw high inflows.
No effect of new RKYC rules
Regarding the new RKYC rules, AMFI said that the system is working properly. The issue related to RKYC has had no impact on the April figures. RKYC is resolving the issue related to investors with on hold status. The association said that 98 to 99 percent of mutual fund transactions are taking place, from purchase to withdrawal.
SIP investment record crosses Rs 20,000 crore
Indian investors invested a record Rs 20,371 crore in Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) during April. This is the first time that monthly investment crossed the Rs 20,000 crore mark. There was an investment of Rs 19,270 crore in SIP in the month of March. Monthly SIP has increased by 6% in April. This figure of Rs 20,000 crore has been achieved in just one and a half years. Monthly SIP contributions have doubled from Rs 10,000 crore in September 2022 to Rs 20,000 crore in about one and a half years.
