His appearance Johnny Logan on her stage Eurovision, on Tuesday night, monopolized the discussions of the First Semi-Final. The two-time winner of the European music competition performed at Malmo Arena a cover of Euphoria which Loreen had won in 2012.
The singer from Sweden managed to beat his record with two wins with last year’s entry and the song Tattoo. Logan has won Eurovision, representing Ireland, in 1980 with What’s Another Year and in 1987 with Hold Me Now.
The confession about the death of his brothers
Johnny Logan is one of the faces associated with Eurovision. In a 2023 interview on RTÉ’s Meaning of Life he himself had revealed that when he goes on stage he carries the souls of his two brothers on his shoulders. Eamon and Liam have passed away.

“When you wanted to talk to God or someone by your side it was always Liam, I grew up with that. It’s hard for me to talk about Eamon. I still talk to him“.
“Every time I go on stage it’s like I have them on my shoulders and I’m like ‘Liam, you sit here and Eamon, you sit there,'” Johnny Logan confided. “That’s the routine I have when I sing.”
In his interview with Joe Duffy on the same show he said: “I hope and believe that one day we will always be together.”
“We threw some of his ashes into the sea off Ireland’s Eye and I hope we throw some of mine there with him so he won’t be alone.”
How his wife, Ailis became his inspiration
Although born in Australia, he found himself in Dublin at the age of 3. His parents, Patrick and Ellen returned to their hometown when he was 17 but he remained in Ireland having found love with his current wife, Ailis. She twho inspired him to write the track Why Me? which won Eurovision in 1992 Eurovision in Malmo and was performed by Linda Martin.
“That’s why I wrote Why Me? How could someone live with me for so long and love me so much but also be so selfless in the relationship. Ailis made me understand that,” he said of his wife.
Greece at this year’s Eurovision
His appearance in Malmo was therefore of particular importance and justifiably attracted countless comments on social media. The explosive also appeared on the same scene Helen Foureira to sing Fuego which was even deified by the BBC.
The performer opted for a gold Celia Kritharioti Haute Couture creation reminiscent of an Amazon. She completed her look with styling and make up that matched perfectly while her choreography was edited by Bill Roxenos.
Fans of the musical institution will tune into their screens again on Thursday for the Second Semi-Final in which he competes and Marina Satti with Zari representing Greece. On the same night, Elena Paparizou, who won the Eurovision Song Contest representing Greece in 2005 with My Number One, will also appear. Next up is the Eurovision final on May 11.
