(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 12 – “We all want decarbonisation.
But technological neutrality must be put at the centre.” This was said by Emma Marcegaglia, former president of Confindustria, who on Friday in Rome will chair the B7, the business forum parallel to the G7.
“We must remain open to all technologies useful for the transition: from liquefied gas, to nuclear fusion, to biofuels, to CO2 capture. Technology must be at the centre. Let’s put aside overly normative, somewhat dirigiste approaches, which sometimes they prevail”, says Marcegaglia in an interview with Corriere della Sera. For the entrepreneur, the European model of the green transition “is correct from a formal point of view. But it is complicated to apply and has underlying errors”. And regarding the risk of deindustrialisation “we already see some of it. Although, of course, the issue of European competitiveness is broader”.
Among the main messages that the B7 will launch, there is also an appeal on trade: “First of all, we recognize that the world is no longer in a phase of intense globalization and the search for efficiency at all costs. However, we underline that the markets must remain open We will recommend limiting regulation and the pursuit of economic security, to the detriment of efficiency, to the minimum necessary. We propose not to constantly raise new barriers to trade and investment and, where possible, to reduce them.” (HANDLE).
