Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is the first supporter of the licensing rounds, noting that the competition between companies to invest in gas and oil fields took place with high transparency.

Abdul-Ghani told the (INA): “The presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani at the ceremony announcing the fifth complementary licensing rounds and the sixth round expresses great support for these activities carried out by the Ministry of Oil,” pointing out that “the two licensing rounds that were announced today It came in coordination with the Prime Minister, who stressed the need for promotion at the specified time.”
He explained, “There is a great push by the Prime Minister for these rounds, given that many of them are gas rounds to invest in gas patches to enhance the quantities of gas that go to the national grid and to operate power plants in light of the urgent need for this gas,” noting that “the Ministry is keen to complete These tours.
He stated that “the procedures so far are sound, and the competition processes are conducted with high transparency, and that the companies have undergone a qualification process within specific criteria, in addition to the presence of a consulting company that has made a significant contribution in selecting the companies and granting them the appropriate qualification degrees.”
Today, Saturday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani launched the fifth licensing round and the sixth licensing round.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the (INA), stated that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani sponsored the ceremony of announcing licenses for the fifth supplementary round and the entire sixth round, which includes a total of 29 projects for oil and gas exploratory fields and patches, distributed between 12 governorates,” stressing that “these strategic projects will contribute to increasing investments in those governorates, which will help improve their economic and service reality.”
The statement added, “Iraq expects to obtain more than (3,459) million standard cubic feet per day of gas, and more than one million barrels of oil per day, through these two rounds.”
