Today, Saturday, the Israeli army issued what it described as a serious warning, calling on residents and displaced people in the Rafah and Shaboura camps and the administrative neighborhoods, Al-Jeneina and Khirbet Al-Adas in Blocks 6, 7, 8, 9, 17, 25, 26, 27 and 31 to evacuate immediately, as they are “ Dangerous combat zones,” he said.
He stressed that his forces “will work with extreme force against terrorist organizations in those areas,” referring to Hamas fighters. He warned against approaching the security wall.
This comes despite international warnings of an invasion of the city of Rafah in the far south of the Gaza Strip, and amid the United Nations’ confirmation that there are no safe places in the entire Strip for the displaced from Rafah to take refuge in, Israel demanded the evacuation of more neighborhoods in the city.
These areas are located in the east of the city of Rafah, and media reported that thousands of civilians have fled since this morning from the city center and its east towards Al-Mawasi and Khan Yunis, under Israeli bombardment.
These developments came after informed sources reported yesterday that the Israeli mini-government had taken a decision “to expand its military operations in Rafah, in a limited manner,” not to exceed the red line previously drawn by the United States.
While more than 110,000 Palestinians have fled the city, which has been crowded with displaced people since last Monday.
It is noteworthy that the issue of the Gaza invasion, which Israel is clinging to in order to “defeat Hamas,” according to its belief, has strained the relationship with the administration of US President Joe Biden in an unprecedented way since the outbreak of the war on the seventh of last October.
