The Grand Slam judo tournament began today in Astana.
According to İdman.biz, seven of our athletes performed on the first day of the competition.
The bronze medal was won by Kamran Suleymanov (66 kg), who beat his teammate Ruslan Pashayev in the small final.

Akhmed Yusifov started with a victory over Dauren Syukenov (Kazakhstan), and then defeated Yam Wolzak (Israel) and Michele Augusto (Brazil), reaching the semi-finals. Here he lost to Yung Wei-Yang (Taiwan), and in the fight for bronze he lost to Eldos Smetov (Kazakhstan).
Nazir Talibov beat Yonatan Charon (Cuba), Magzhan Shamshadin (Kazakhstan) and Aibek Omirov (Turkmenistan), making it to the semi-finals. At this stage, he lost to Ramazan Abdullaev (Neutral status), having received injuries. The damage will not allow Talibov to compete for bronze.

Kamran Suleymanov defeated Erbol Asasbekov (Kyrgyzstan), Julien Frascadore (Canada) and Strahinja Buncic (Serbia), reaching the semi-finals. Here he lost to Matthias Piras (Italy), and in the fight for bronze he defeated his teammate Ruslan Pashayev.
Pashaev defeated Matež Polyak (Slovakia) at the start, then broke the resistance of Gusman Kirgizbaev (Kazakhstan), but lost to Lukas Saha (Finland) in the quarterfinals. In the repechage bout, he defeated Serdar Rakhimov (Turkmenistan), and then lost to Suleymanov.
