Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, India is our friend. We do not enslave anyone. The source of our strength is the people of this country.

He said, we want friendship from India. Because, it is necessary for our interest. We have lost 21 years by enmity. We don’t want to go back to that.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at a peace rally organized by Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League at Ghaznavi Road in Mohammadpur of the capital on Saturday (May 11).

Referring to various agreements made with India, Awami League General Secretary said, We want to say that Sheikh Hasina has brought the water of the Ganga. Who made the water deal? Sheikh Hasina Who made the agreement to solve the border problem? Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister of India. I got a sea as big as Bangladesh through the court.

He said, we have not benefited from 21 years of enmity with India. BNP was hostile and created suspicion, mistrust. Because of that the relationship did not improve. Sheikh Hasina has broken the wall of distrust.

Criticizing BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, he said, Gayeshwar stands in Paltan tomorrow and tells us, India’s broker. This slander was given by Ayub Khan, Yahya. Khaleda Zia had forgotten about the Ganges water when she went to India. Journalists asked, you visited India, what happened to the Ganga water? He said, I forgot. Who are the brokers?

42 percent people voted in the upazila parishad elections, Obaidul Quader said, noting that 42 percent voters of Bangladesh recognized Sheikh Hasina’s development achievements.
