Last night, the Be’er Sheva Theater performed “Hero” – the rap science fiction opera in question, created by Amit Ullman.

The play tells the story of Nati, a young employee in a news system in a world where criminals always win and law enforcers have lost hope.

Following a mysterious work accident, Nati gains superhuman powers, which changes his dull life from end to end and presents him with difficult dilemmas – what should he do with his powers? Is he obligated to use them for others? Who can he tell? What is right? Does one person, no matter how strong and moral, have the right to judge others?

The play explores and plays with the archetypes of the superhero genre through poetry, rhythm, humor, winks and awareness of contemporary culture.

Amit Ullman, one of the founders of the ‘Poetry Slam’ in Israel, creates “This City” (winner of the “Golden Hedgehog”), “Magshimim High School” and more, winner of the “Yitzhak Navon Award” 2019, known for the unique style that characterizes his works, for the first time in the repertory theater.

The show, which took place at the American Zionist House in Tel Aviv, was attended by Shmulik Yifrach, director of the Be’er Sheva Theater, Shir Goldberg, the theater’s artistic director, Aviv Pinkas, Tal Musari, Limor Goldstein, Adam Gabay, Ohad Knoller, Nir and Hagar from Hatunami.
