/ The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Friday that at least 36 Aleppo increased”>Syrian soldiers were killed, and dozens of others were injured, as a result of an Israeli air strike that targeted several sites near Aleppo in northern Syria, including “missile depots belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah.”

The Observatory told Agence France-Presse that “at least 36 members of the Syrian forces were killed, and dozens were injured, in Israeli raids that targeted an area located near Aleppo International Airport.”

Reuters also quoted two sources as saying that “Israeli strikes on the Syrian city of Aleppo early on Friday morning led to the killing of 33 civilians and soldiers,” adding that “the strikes also caused the death of five Lebanese Hezbollah fighters.”

The Observatory confirmed that “this death toll from regime forces is the highest” in an “Israeli” raid in Syria since Israel intensified its targeting of Syrian sites following the outbreak of war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.”

The Observatory indicated that the Israeli air strikes also targeted “defense factories that were affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense before Iranian groups took control of them,” in Al-Safira, the city southeast of Aleppo.

For its part, the official Syrian news agency, SANA, quoted a military source as saying that an Israeli air strike targeted “a number of points in the Aleppo countryside,” causing deaths and injuries among “civilians and military personnel,” the number of which was not specified.
